What Was On Top?

Diana Ross stayed at #1 for a second consecutive week with her hit "Upside Down." The song was her fifth solo chart topper and was written and produced by Chic members Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards.

Air Supply climbed from #4 to #2 with their second hit "All Out Of Love," jumping over "Emotional Rescue" by the Rolling Stones which remained at #3 for a second week.

The theme song from the movie "Fame" by Irene Cara inched up a spot from #5 to #4, while the former number one song "Sailing" by Christopher Cross dropped from #2 to #5.

What Were The Big Movers?

"Another One Bites The Dust" by Queen roared into the top ten surging from #23 up to #9, becoming the band's fourth top ten hit in the United States.

Kenny Loggins made a strong 15-notch jump from #27 to #12 with "I'm Alright" from the soundtrack of the movie "Caddyshack." "Real Love" by the Doobie Brothers and "Look What You've Done To Me" by Boz Scaggs also made double-digit jumps within the top 40.

Barbra Streisand moved up 16 spots into the top 40 from #49 to #33. That was the overall biggest jump for any song for the week. The Larsen/Feiten Band also made a double-digit climb into the top 40 with "Who'll Be The Fool Tonight."

Songs below the top 40 that made big jumps included "Whip It" by Devo (#75 to #60), "I'm Coming Out" by Diana Ross (#88 to #76), and "Turn It On Again" by Genesis (#84 to #73).

"First...Be A Woman" by Leonore O'Malley fell the furthest - 31 notches from #53 to #84.

What Was New?

There were nine new songs for the week, and the higest debut was "Dreaming" by Cliff Richard which came in at #77 - and it was the only new song that would eventually make the top ten.

New songs that would go on to make the top 40 included "Without Your Love" by Roger Daltrey, "Walk Away" by Donna Summer, "If You Should Sail" by Nielsen/Pearson, and "Theme From The Dukes Of Hazzard" by Waylon Jennings.

The remaining new songs were "Live Every Minute" by Ali Thomson, "Running Back" by Eddie Money, "Angeline" by Allman Brothers Band, and "I've Just Begun To Love You" by Dynasty.
