What Was On Top?

Queen got their second number one hit and second number one from the album The Game this week as "Another One Bites The Dust" jumped from #3 into the top spot. The song was written by bassist John Deacon.

Queen jumped over Air Supply who stalled at #2 for a fourth consecutive week with "All Out Of Love." And after four weeks at #1 Diana Ross slipped a couple spots to #3 with "Upside Down."

George Benson held for a second week at #4 with "Give Me The Night." Right behind him was Eddie Rabbitt. The country crossover artist's first top ten pop hit, "Drivin' My Life Away," moved up from #7 to #5.

What Were The Big Movers?

Barbra Streisand made a five-notch leap into the top ten from #12 to #7 with "Woman In Love."

Big movers were few and far between in the top 40. Donna Summer made the biggest jump within the top 40. "The Wanderer" moved up nine spots from #30 to #21.

Stevie Wonder had the biggest moving record on the entire chart for the week. "Master Blaster (Jammin)" surged up 30 notches from #62 into the top 40 at #32 in its third week. Also making strong debuts into the top 40 were "Dreamer" by Supertramp (#46 to #33) and "I'm Coming Out" by Diana Ross (#44 to #34).

Several songs below the top 40 made big jumps of twenty or more. They included "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling" by Daryl Hall & John Oates (#68 to #41), "Lovely One" by The Jacksons (#71 to #45), "She's So Cold" by The Rolling Stones (#72 to #48), and "More Than I Can Say" by Leo Sayer.

A former #1 hit by Billy Joel took the biggest tumble for the week. After 19 straight weeks in the top 40 "It's Still Rock And Roll To Me" plummeted forty notches from #37 to #77.

What Was New?

Kenny Rogers debuted all the way up at #39 and got his tenth top 40 pop hit with the ballad "Lady."

Pat Benatar entered the chart at #73 with what might be her signature song, "Hit Me With You Best Shot." It was the second release from her Crimes Of Passion album.

There were only four new songs on the chart for the week. The other two were a remake of "Cry Like A Baby" by Kim Carnes and "More Bounce To The Ounce Part 1" by Zapp.
