Alicia Keys was born Alicia Augello Cook in New York. She attended Professional Performing Arts School and graduated at 16 as valedictorian. She later attended Columbia University before dropping out to pursue her music career. Keys hit the ground running with her debut album, Songs in A Minor, in 2001. The album contained several hits and won five Grammys.
