Sting was born Gordon Matthew Sumner on October 2nd, 1951 in Wallsend - a small town near Newcastle in England. He moved to London in 1977 and soon formed The Police with Stewart Copeland and Henry Padovani (who was soon replaced by Andy Summers). The Police enjoyed huge commercial and critical success in the 1980's, capped by the album Synchronicity and the single "Every Breath You Take." Sting's first solo album, The Dream of the Blue Turtles, was released in 1985. Numerous successful albums followed throughout the 80's and 90's.
