What Was On Top?

"Rock With You" by Michael Jackson remained at number one for a second consecutive week. It was his third #1 hit as a solo artist following "Ben" in 1972 and "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" in 1979. It was his first number one song to spend multiple weeks at the top.

"Do That To Me One More Time" by The Captain & Tennille patiently remained at #2 for a second week. "Coward Of The County" by Kenny Rogers at #3 and "Escape" by Rupert Holmes at #4 switched positions from the previous week.

"Cruisin'" by Smokey Robinson inched up a spot to #5 in its second week in the top ten.

What Were The Big Movers?

"Crazy Little Thing Called Love" continued its speedy climb up the charts. The Queen song made a ten-notch leap from #18 into the top ten at #8. "Sara" by Fleetwood Mac also made a nice jump into the top ten from #15 to #10.

The biggest mover within the chart was "Him" by Rupert Holmes. In its second week it jumped sixteen places from #72 to #56. "On The Radio" by Donna Summer moved fourteen positions from #49 to #35.

Making nice jumps within the top 40 were Teri DeSario's duet with K.C. "Yes, I'm Ready" (#24 to #16) and "Longer" by Dan Fogelberg (#35 to #25).

The biggest drop within the chart for the week was "No More Tears." The former #1 duet by Donna Summer and Barbra Streisand drop 56 notches from #38 to #94.

What Was New?

The highest debuting song of the week was "Desire" by Andy Gibb at #44. It was the lead single from his After Dark album. Coming in at #63 was "Refugee" by Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers - their follow up to "Don't Do Me Like That."

A comeback hit for Tommy James, "Three Times In Love," came in at #82. It was his first time back on the charts since 1973. The R&B group The Moments changed their name to Ray, Goodman & Brown and debuted with "Special Lady."

The other two new songs for the week were "Haven't You Heard" by Patrice Rushen and "You Might Need Somebody" by Turley Richards.
