"Crazy Little Thing Called Love" by Queen

What Was On Top?

"Crazy Little Thing Called Love" by Queen moved into the top spot from #2. The rockabilly-style hit became the band's first #1 song in the United States. "Bohemian Rhapsody" had been #1 in several countries, but not in America.

"Do That To Me One More Time" slipped to #2 in its 19th week on the chart. "Yes, I'm Ready" by Teri DeSario with K.C. made a nice move from #6 to #3.

Positions four and five remained the same with "Cruisin'" by Smokey Robinson and the former #1 song "Rock With You" by Michael Jackson holding down those spots.

What Were The Big Movers?

There weren't many big moves within the top 40, but "Off The Wall" by Michael Jackson made a nice jump into the top 40 moving from #53 to #37. Right behind it was the Tommy James comeback hit "Three Times In Love" which moved from #54 to #38.

"Ride Like The Wind" by Christopher Cross moved 15 notches from #61 to #46.

A handful of other songs made jumps of ten spots below the top 40 including "Sexy Eyes," "What I Like About You," "Call Me," and "My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys."

The biggest dropper was "Third Time Lucky" by Foghat which fell from #43 to #92.

What Was New?

Thirteen new songs graced the chart this week. The highest debut was by the Eagles and their third hit from The Long Run. "I Can't Tell You Why" came in at #60. Not too far behind at #66 was "Fire Lake" by Bob Seger. It was the first single from the Against The Wind album.

Debut songs that would go on to reach the top 40 included "Pilot Of The Airwaves" by Charlie Dore, "Set Me Free" by the Todd Rundgren band Utopia, "Fire In The Morning" by Melissa Manchester, "Keep The Fire" by Kenny Loggins, and "Carrie" by Cliff Richard.

The rest of the new songs were "Girl With The Hungry Eyes" by Jefferson Starship, "It's Like We Never Said Goodbye" by Crystal Gayle, "The Spirit Of Radio" by Rush, "Loving You With My Eyes" by Starland Vocal Band, "Autograph" by John Denver, and "Somewhere In America" - the first chart single by Survivor.
